Inland Revenue’s central office in the Asteron Centre brings 1,900 staff together across 25,000m², creating one of Wellington’s largest and most efficient office fit-outs. Previously separate teams are now co-located, encouraging collaboration and maximising operational efficiencies.
The design divided the large floor plates into smaller, intimate zones with breakout and informal meeting areas, while allowing maximum flexibility for future reconfiguration. A central atrium forms the heart of the office, hosting the “business hub” with café, library, and seminar rooms, linking teams across floors and fostering interaction.
Sustainability was a key focus, with extensive use of timber studs, timber partitioning, and timber-veneered doors instead of steel and aluminium, creating a warm, welcoming, and environmentally conscious workspace.
The result is a modern, flexible office that balances efficiency, collaboration, and comfort.
We have been able to rely on Pelorus to deliver documentation that is fully completed, accurately detailed and well-coordinated.
