Skylight Trust needed a fresh, welcoming space, to support young people and whānau through counselling, resources, and programmes. The new premises offer better access and a child-friendly environment, bringing together furniture and décor in a more integrated and inviting way—all on a tight budget.
Designed as a hub for like-minded service providers, the space includes music and sound therapy areas, and multipurpose rooms—like the CEO office, which can also be used for consultations.
The project is to be completed in two stages. Stage one focused on relocation, updated décor, and consistent staff workspaces. Stage two will theme consultation rooms to appeal to a wide range of clients, creating relaxed, homely spaces with varied seating for children and adolescents.
The design also supports shared and after-hours services, with improved acoustics, flexible staffing, and a less institutional feel. By repurposing much of the previous fitout, the project was more sustainable and stayed within budget.
