This bank is a smart example of adaptive reuse, ready for a new chapter. By reusing materials and spaces instead of starting from scratch, the project avoided the horrendous carbon footprint often associated with new construction. This approach demonstrates how workplaces can be both practical and environmentally responsible, and it’s a model more interiors should follow.

This project transformed a former bank into a modern space with two main areas: a large, open-plan back office for support staff, and a smaller, public-facing branch for customers.

To support sustainability, as much of the existing fit-out as possible was retained, including building services, small meeting rooms, shopfronts and floor coverings. The old fit-out was carefully repaired and refurbished, with replacements made only where essential. The Cooperative Bank’s brand and colours were only then overlaid to bring the space to life.
